This is our first trip to visit the family and see the situation for ourselves.
It was shocking to see how dilapidated the place was. Large plastics was placed on top of the roof to reduce the rain water from seeping in.
Even basic necessities like water and electrical supply is non existant.
This photo at the back of the hut shows the makeshift bathroom. Water is obtained the natural way from the hill.
(From left) Pastor Joseph who brought the plight of this family to Rtn. Kenneth. Beside him is Misdah bt. Rayam (58 years old), her daughter, Robiah bt. Geyeng (30 years old) and our members, PP Rtn. Patricia, Rtn. Michelle and PP Rtn. Florence. Not seen in this photo is Robiah's 7 year old daughter, Aszuwan. This bamboo hut is currently occupied by them.
This project will be a challenge in terms of logistics. It is located about 50 km from Melaka town and the last 10 km is only assesible by 4x4 vehicle. A lot of the cost will be the transportation of building materials to the site. Why are we doing this? It is our love for humanity and the satisfaction of seeing this family getting a better living condition. We hope to be the channel for other Rotary Clubs and Corporate bodies to help this family. Please support this project by donating money towards the "Build A Home For the Poor Project". All cheques to be made payable to THE ROTARY CLUB OF KOTA LAKSAMANA MALACCA.
Please feel free to contact any of the club members if you wish to join us.
Contact persons are Project Chairman Rtn. Kenneth (016-6851001), President Ramani (012-2595389) and PP Rtn. Ben (019-6554848)
